reporter david has more from san jose. >>reporter: george junior has been elected official for a decade until today. but behind the scenes investigators from the district attorney's office say he was cheating taxpayers and campaign donor by using their money as his personal pig bank to fuel what he admitted today is a gambling addiction and depression. he's accused of forging signatures on bank accounts and failing to file state mandated disclosure forms and creating a slush fund. >> the only person allowed to sign checks ordeal with that account was george sher ka washington taking in campaign money and he used it in casino or for personal purposes. >>reporter: in investigators say he used county credit card crash creek thunder valley and harrah reno casino and went through restaurant sets receipts and found half of 200 dollar tab spent on alcohol even though he signed a county form claiming no hotel charged to taxpayers. evidence was laid out to his attorney earlier this week. in an agreement reached that he will plead guilty. pay 50,000 dollars in state penalty and reimburse th

by shootings in san francisco, san jose, union city. and then this morning officers again fired on a suspect, this time in hayward. monty francis joins us live with what led officers to pull their weapons on this suspect. >> reporter: kris, good evening. an investigation is underway. the scene has been cleared but you can see behind me a wooden sign that was knocked over by the suspect vehicle when it crashed. this unfolded at about 3:30 a.m. when police say a suspect rammed his car into a police cruiser during a traffic stop. the driver, a 23-year-old oakley man sped off and crashed the car here at foothill boulevard. the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and it is not clear if the officer's bullett killed him. the driver is in police custody. we talked to the owner of a japanese restaurants yards from where the suspect vehicle crashed. he says he is discouraged by all the violence in his neighborhood. >> it is kind of sad but somebo somebody -- kind o
. more information on the breaking story in san jose. police are investigating the city's seventh homicide of the year. this is all happening in the almaden valley. about two hours ago a man was found with stab wounds in the area of guadeloupe oak grove park. our chopper is providing live pictures of the investigation. you see a lot of police cars down below. the man is identified -- has not been identified yet but is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. there are no suspects at this time. keep it here on nbc bay area. we'll continue to update this story and provide you updates throughout this newscast. >>> new at 6:00 tonight, a cold and heartless attack on a richmond police officer and his dog including his k-9 partner. someone not only burglarized his home but poisoned his dog. jodi hernandez is live in richmond where the search is on for a k-9 killer. >> reporter: jessica, it doesn't get more disturbing than this. tonight a police dog is recovering. another dog is dead after someone fed the dogs poison as they were locked

in san jose will host the service next thursday on march 7th. the details of the service is still pending, but the investigation is moving forward with police now looking for this woman, it teresa johnson. they say the 28-year-old suspected prostitute isn't involved in the murders in any way but they do want to talk to her to get information on the deceased suspect jeremy goulet. investigators say johnson may have been acquainted with him. now we turn to marianne favro who joins us live in santa cruz where police are still working this investigation, marianne. >> reporter: jessica, during the past two hours we have seen a steady stream of police officers and sheriff's deputies coming here to this community memorial to pay their respects and we have seen a lot of hugs exchanged. some of the officers came here after completing their first patrol shift since their fellow officers were killed. for the first time since two of their if fellow officers, sergeant butch baker and detective elizabeth butler were killed in the line of duty, santa cruz police went back to their own duties protecting
butler. kpix 5's anne makovec is in san jose this morning where the memorial is scheduled for noon at hp pavilion. anne. >> reporter: people from all around the country, officers from all sorts of different police departments are going to come here in solidarity to hp pavilion here behind me. the capacity is 18,000 people. they are expecting about 15,000. now, last night there was a public viewing, a memorial service, at santa cruz memorial funeral home. friends, family, fellow officers and people who didn't even know the officers came to pay respects and say good-bye. detective sergeant loran "butch" baker and detective elizabeth butler were shot and killed last week while questioning jeremy goulet about a sexual assault. goulet was later killed by other responding officers. but today it is all about baker and butler. >> they've given so much to the community. and to be taken like that, severe tragedy. >> i just respect them and care for them, and i know this is a loss of a brother and a sister. >> reporter: the service today is being held
